The main app page and the research view have similar layouts. Both of them are divided into
4 sections, namely:
1. A map section (top-left),
2. A detailed pie chart section (top-right),
3. A table containing data (bottom-left),
4. A Control Panel (bottom-right).
Bars standing at the locations of the libraries provide the number of monasteries/books (depending on what
view the user is currently under), each with their corresponding colour (e.g. green for Cambridge UL, see
the legend in the general info page).
The map shows the data by country when the zooming level is relatively small. Under the 'general' view,
circles showing total number of monasteries in a certain country is shown in the center of the country.
Under the 'detailed' view, a pie chart showing distribution of books in this country is shown instead.
When zoomed in to a certain scale, you will be able to see the detailed monasteries on the map. They are
circles (fixed size in general view, and size differs in line with the number of books in the monastery)
with colour indicating where their books ended up.
There is a mini-map for each destination where data of that specific destination is shown on the map, providing a more precise view for the user and hopefully it can save the user from visual cluttering to some extent. The mini-maps are synchronized with the main map, and they cannot be zoomed in/out solely (they can be dragged solely though). At a low zooming level, it shows number of monasteries/books by country (no pie charts). Otherwise it behaves almost the same as the main map.
If you hover your mouse over the pie charts for the countries under the detailed view, a detailed version
of it will be shown in the panel, it now shows the data of each slice of pie with total number of books in
this country under it and the name of the country as header.
If you click on one of the bars, a pie chart showing monasteries/books distribution in this library by
religious order will be shown. It has all the religious order names as abbreviation, and if you enter your
mouse into one of the pies it will highlight the entered pie and show the full name of the monastery instead.
The name of the clicked library will be shown as the header of the chart and the total number of monasteries/books
in this library will be shown under the chart.
